London Biska Jatra 2026

Join us for the 3rd London Biska Jatra, a celebration of spring, positivity, and happiness, organised by Pasa Pucha Guthi UK! This biennial festival coincides with the Biska Jatra of Bhaktapur, Nepal, & the beginning of the Solar New Year in April. Biska Jatra honors Bhairava, a powerful deity revered in both Hinduism and Buddhism.
In Hindu tradition, he is a fierce form of Lord Shiva, while in Buddhism, he represents the Bodhisattva Manjushri.

The festival is hosted by the South-East London branch, with President Suroj Maskey coordinating under the guidance of PPGUK BOT President, Sushil Prajapati.

New this year: Sindoore Jatra!
✨Sindoore Jatra is a ritual of celebrating the Nepalese New Year, where vermilion powder (Abir) symbolises renewal, blessings, unity, and community harmony. Four Kha will be built and carried by the respective branches:
Reading, Aldershot, South-East London, and London, adding a spectacular burst of colour and tradition to the celebrations.

BHAIRAVNATH & BHADRAKALI RATH.
A massive chariot carries the God Bhairava’s statue, pulled by hundreds of people. A highlight is a tug-of-war.

YOSIN DYO.
A towering 25-feet Yosin Dyo is erected on New Year’s Eve in Yosin khyo, signifying the start of the New Year when it’s pulled down.

FOOD FESTIVAL.
Authentic Newari food prepared by the local newars of Nepal.

…and much more!
